CITY OF THOROLD

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) will be starting construction on the Thorold Tunnel beginning Tuesday, April 9, 2024. They will start with single lane closures (fast lane) in both directions.
Starting on Friday, April 12, there will be full closure on the East bound lanes (South tube) from April 12 to April 24, only in the evenings, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Once the South tube of the tunnel is completed, the North tube of the tunnel will be closed in the evenings, starting at 7:30 p.m. and reopen to traffic at 5:30 a.m. This section of the tunnel will take approximately 20 days. Dates will be provided once we are notified.
The Thorold Tunnel project duration is planned from April 9 to June 28, 2024.
