Thorold Jr. B Blackhawks looking to serve alcohol at their home games

The ice hockey team is in the process of applying for a special occasions liquor permit with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario

Could Monday night hockey with the Thorold Jr. B Blackhawks soon include beer?

The ice hockey team has recently filed a request with city council to designate their home games as municipally significant events so that they can file for a Special Occasion Permit (SOP) with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

An SOP is a permit that allows for the sale and service of liquor at special events.

City staff has recommended that the request to designate the home games be granted, sending it along to city council for approval.

While city council didn't get to vote on the request at last night's council meeting because of time constraints, it seems likely that soon enough residents of Thorold will be able to enjoy Monday night hockey with a cold brew in their hands.
