A city-wide food drive is kicking off in Thorold on October 17 following continuing demand on Community Care in Thorold.

It is local charity organizer and community advocate James Symons who is at work once again, this time to aid the local food bank to keep shelves stocked.

“There is more hunger with Covid, and more increase in use of the food banks,” Symons said to ThoroldToday.

“And with three major festivals that used to bring in over 10,000 lbs of food not happening, we are doing this to support Community Care.”

To obtain a bin to host your own food drive contribution, Symons said those interested can email him at [email protected].

Drop-off points will also include Thorold Foodland, and Thorold Fire Station 1.

Bins will be put on the Saturday prior to the 17th, and collected on the Monday or Tuesday.
