St Catharines Suicide Awareness Walk kicks off in September

March to raise awareness and show support – 10 Canadians die by suicide every day

On September 10, the streets of St Catharines will be packed with people walking for awareness around suicide and mental health, in recognition of World Suicide Awareness day.

Organized by Distress Centre Niagara, an organization offering a 24-hour crisis line managed by trained responders, the group is planning for an in-person event to walk in support of those affected by suicide, and to raise awareness in the communtiy.

“The event and what it stands for is significant to us and the community at large,” said an event intvitation.

The march will kick off at Market Square in St. Catharines (91 King St). Doors open at 6:30pm and event will start at 7:00pm. The event will also be available livestreamed on Instagram.

The organization said it is actively seeking donations, and have set up a system for volunteer fundraising.
