The St. Catharines Provincial Courthouse will be closing Oct. 31, 2019 at noon. Regional Council approved the closure of the 71 King St. courthouse on June 20, with all existing services transferring to the new 1,836 square metre Welland courthouse, located at 445 East Main St.

Up until its closure on Oct. 31, the St. Catharines Courthouse will continue to operate as a counter service to assist members of the public with setting a trial or early resolution meeting, extensions or re-openings, appeal documents and fine payments. No trial proceedings have taken place at the courthouse since October 2018.

The consolidation of services to the Welland Courthouse ensures Niagara residents receive the most efficient service in a modernized space. The Welland Courthouse has ample parking and meets modern accessibility standards. Residents can take public transportation, with Niagara Region Transit route 70 offering weekday service between St. Catharines and Welland Transit.

Niagara residents are reminded that many court services can be done electronically or over the phone. To access the Provincial Offences Courts online services or find more information, go to Niagara Region's Provincial Offences Courthouse webpage.
