South St. Catharines Rotary Club is getting ready to pull up the sleeves and take a crack at the litter and garbage lining the Welland Canal this Saturday–and are looking for more hands to join in.

The spring cleanup crew will be descending at Lock 7 viewing centre and clean up the stretch between the tourism centre and Glendale Avenue, a distance of roughly 3 kilometres. The Rotary club said it is hoping for at least 3 or 4 groups of 4 members each, two on each side on the street. The initiative is part of the bigger Great Lakes Watershed Cleanup, which will be engaging thousands of members in Canada and the U.S, in conjunction with Earth Week.
