ST. CATHARINES – The Niagara River Lions and Dragan Brewing and Wine today announced a partnership naming Dragan Brewing and Wine the preferred craft brewery of the team where fans can cheer on the River Lions during the 2021 season with a co-branded beer, The Hunt in hand, launching on May 6, 2021. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Food4Kids Niagara.

The partnership is the first of its kind for the River Lions organization, where fans will be able to enjoy The Hunt from home or at select bars and restaurants across the Niagara Region and beyond.

The eye-catching design of the can will feature a hand drawn lion head representing the pride and strength of not only both organizations, but of the community at large.

The can will also feature The Hunt mantra as set out by River Lions Head Coach and General Manager, Victor Raso, and Assistant General Manager, Antwi Atuahene, with the goal of winning a 2021 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) Championship in mind. The mantra extends beyond the River Lions team and allows consumers to reflect on what they are hunting for in their own everyday life.

“On behalf of the entire Niagara River Lions organization, we are incredibly pleased to create this partnership with Dragan Brewing and Wine,” said Director of Partnerships and Sales, Chris Langdon. “This project began as a vision from Michael at Dragan, and our mutual passion for our community allowed us to not only create a delicious tasting beer but more importantly to allow us to give back. I wish to thank Michael, Sam and the entire Dragan team for their efforts in this initiative.”

As two community minded organizations it was important that the partnership between the River Lions and Dragan Brewing and Wine had a giveback component to it. Therefore, a portion of all proceeds will be donated to Food4Kids Niagara, a non-profit that provides healthy food packages to children across Niagara each week.

“Both the Niagara River Lions and Dragan Brewing and Wine have a long history of contributing to their community,” said Executive Director of Food4Kids Niagara, Amber Hughes. “The fact that they included a giveback component in this initiative shouldn’t surprise anyone – they are always willing to lend a helping hand. Because of them, we are going to be able to fill even more tummies this summer. We are very grateful to be joined by the River Lions and Dragan Brewing in ‘The Hunt’ to end childhood hunger in our community.”

Fans and beer enthusiasts alike can purchase The Hunt starting May 6th, 2021. Dragan Brewing and Wine is pleased to offer online orders with curbside pickup at their St Catharines location and free delivery during May and June. A full list of locations can be found below.

“The team at Dragan Brewing and Wine Company have always been fans of the Niagara River Lions both as a team and Organization. We share a lot of the same values and beliefs both in what we do in business and within our community,” continued President and CEO of Dragan Brewing and Wine Company, Michael Nazareth.

“We are on a continuous 'Hunt' to be better and achieve our goals regardless of the obstacles. As a new addition to the City of St. Catharines we are excited with this partnership as it will allow our fans to enjoy the game we love, with a co-branded beer while helping us put some money back into our community which is needed. Creating The Hunt with Chris Langdon, Michelle Biskup, Matt Johnston and Luke DeRango was an amazing experience for us and we look forward to this upcoming season… and hopefully winning a championship,”

The Niagara River Lions are one of the original six teams of the CEBL. Playing out of Meridian Centre in downtown St. Catharines, the River Lions represent the twelve municipalities of the Niagara Region while living up to the River Lions moniker of pride and strength of community.
