Public Health Ontario is reporting 842 people in hospital with COVID-19, and 2,001 new COVID cases today, however, these numbers may be underestimated due to limitations in who can get tested.
Not all hospitals report a daily bed census over the weekend.
The Feb. 27 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:
- 2,081 recoveries and nine deaths
- Of the new cases reported today, 226 were unvaccinated people, 61 were partially vaccinated, 1,518 were fully vaccinated, and 196 are listed as vaccination status unknown.
- 281 patients are in ICU with COVID-19 related illness.
- 181 patients in ICU with COVID-19 are on ventilators (22 of those patients no longer test positive for COVID-19).
- The province reported 15,434 tests were processed yesterday with a 12.9 per cent positivity rate.
- Another 3,502 tests are still under investigation and/or being processed. To date, over 23 million tests have been completed.
Vaccines
- There were 27,897 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday.
- 31,673,271 doses of vaccine have been administered.
- In total, 12,005,680 people have been fully vaccinated.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 1,100,696 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 1,069,795 recoveries and 12,430 deaths, 4,476 of those in long-term care homes.
