Public Health Ontario reported 429 new COVID cases today.
The latest updates noted 696 recoveries and four deaths that have occurred in the last month.
One death previously reported has been removed from the cumulative list.
The Oct. 5 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:
- The new cases reported today include 233 unvaccinated people, 27 partially vaccinated, and 128 fully vaccinated cases. 41 cases are in people whose vaccination status is unknown.
- 4,734 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 5,004 yesterday.
- 277 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.
- There are 131 COVID-positive patients in the ICU plus another 24 patients no longer testing positive for COVID-19.
- There are 83 COVID-positive patients on ventilators and another 18 patients on ventilators no longer testing positive for COVID.
- There are 101 unvaccinated people hospitalized (but not in ICU) with COVID-19 plus eight partially vaccinated people and 41 fully vaccinated people.
- There are 75 unvaccinated COVID-19 patients in ICU plus eight partially vaccinated and eight fully vaccinated.
- 10,629,132 Ontarians (about 72 per cent of the total population) have been fully vaccinated and another 658,393 (four per cent of Ontario population) have a single dose of COVID vaccine. 87 per cent of eligible Ontarians have at least one dose of vaccine.
- The seven-day average incidence rate by vaccination status is nine cases per 100,000 unvaccinated people, 4.4 cases per 100,000 partially vaccinated people, and 1.5 cases per 100,000 fully vaccinated people
- The province reported 25,441 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.8 per cent positivity rate.
- Of the new cases reported today, 108 are from Toronto, 55 are from Peel, 19 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and 29 are from York Region.
- Today's new cases include 96 individuals under 12 years old, 40 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 152 people between 20 and 39 years old, 92 people between 40 and 59 years old, 40 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 10 people over 79 years old.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 589,041 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 574,550 recoveries and 9,757 deaths.
Since the start of the pandemic, 30,001 people have been hospitalized with COVID and 5,864 of them were in intensive care units.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,997.8 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 27.4 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 8.1 per cent compared to the week of Sept. 19-25.
