The number of COVID-positive hospital patients increased 23 per cent in the last seven days with 1,392 people hospitalized according to today's report.

The number of COVID patients in intensive care units has increased by 11 per cent over the same time period with 159 patients in ICUs on April 7 compared to 177 today.

In the latest update, the province reported 20 more COVID-related deaths that occurred within the last month, and an additional three deaths that occurred more than a month ago.

According to the latest update, there have been 222 COVID deaths in the last 30 days, with between five and 17 deaths each day.

Over the course of the pandemic, the province has reported 12,606 deaths that were either caused by COVID, COVID was a contributing factor to the death, or the cause of death was unknown or missing.

The daily update included 4,589 lab-confirmed COVID cases.

Case counts are assumed to be underestimated because not everyone is eligible to receive PCR testing and only PCR results are included in the daily case counts.

As of today, Public Health Ontario has confirmed 1,209,041 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 1,163,003 cases recovered or resolved.

The April 14 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:
