On Dec. 17, Northend Church Foodbank is hosting Hometown Christmas, a special community event aimed at providing a Christmas experience to those who may not have one due to their circumstances. The event includes dinner and gifts for over 500 attendees and will take place at 455 Geneva Street, St. Catharines with two sittings happening at 12:30 and 4:30 p.m.

“This past year has been incredibly hard on people in our community – particularly our food bank clients – with inflation causing food, housing and fuel costs to soar,“ says Gary Isaac, Food Bank coordinator at Northend Church. “Being able to give these families some sense of normalcy during the holidays is a small way we can support them, and we’re grateful to the individuals and businesses who’ve helped bring this to life.”

Local businesses in the community have rallied together in support by sponsoring tables and donating gifts to make this year’s event an extra special time of year for these families.

Northend Church began delivering food to the St. Catharines community in response to the COVID pandemic in March 2020. Initially, serving two to three families per week, Northend Foodbank now delivers to over 160 families per month with over 80,000 pounds of grocery items being delivered in 2021.

For more information about donating to the food bank and the event, please contact, Gary Isaac at 905-941-6864 or email  [email protected].
