Niagara resident dies after testing positive for COVID-19

Another Niagara resident has died after testing positive for COVID-19.

The death toll increased to 434 on Wednesday, as the region's public health agency reported 25 new cases.

Following 35 recoveries, the number of active cases was 230 as of noon on Wednesday.

22 of those cases are in Thorold, 25 in Welland and 0 in Pelham.

St Catharines and Niagara Falls are dealing with around 55 cases each.

DSBN is reporting 9 cases across its school community, and NCDSB one case.

In total, Niagara Public Health is tracking 16 active outbreaks.

Niagara Health is caring for 14 patients. 3 of them are in the ICU, and all but one is unvaccinated.
