Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the Niagara region. A low pressure system will bring on gusts up to 100 km/h, beginning early Friday morning.

High winds may toss loose objects, or cause tree branches to break. The alert advised drivers to adjust driving to changing road conditions due to high winds.

Heavy rain is expected beginning tonight and into Friday as well, with isolated thunderstorms and up to 50 mm rainfall possible in some locations. The rain will taper off around noon on Friday.

On Thursday, The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority warned that some floods may occur around Lake Erie, currently 45 centimetres over its long-term average water level. Water levels are expected to increase by 5 ft. due to the rain. However, no major floods are expected.
