It is never a good thing to make assumptions before finding out the facts – especially if it involves your car insurance and a former love interest.
A Niagara driver had to learn that lesson the hard way, after a traffic stop by the OPP Highway Safety Division.
On Tuesday, the police force tweeted that it had pulled over a Niagara driver in St. Catharines for distracted driving, when officers took an interest in the insurance status of the vehicle.
“Further checks revealed the vehicle was also uninsured,” said OPP.
“I just assumed my ex was paying for it,” continued the drivers explanation according to police.
After stating the driver was charged, the cops also threw in the hashtags #NoInsurance and #NeverAssume.
#NiagaraOPP just stopped a vehicle on the #QEW in #StCatharines for #DistractedDriving. Further checks revealed the vehicle was also uninsured. "I just assumed my ex was paying for it."... was the drivers response. Charged #Distracted #NoInsurance. ^kw#NeverAssume
