Richmond Street School is growing.

The addition of four full day classrooms will mean that the kindergarten classes currently being held outdoors will be able to move inside the building, allowing for less in-and out traffic of the school, that serves around 400 students up to grade 8.

“As good as the portable classes are, it is nice to have everyone in the building”, principal Tony D’Alessandro told Thorold News.

The work began in July of last year in response to the rapid population growth in Thorold.

Richmond Street School was built in 1961 and has seen a gymnasium, library and additional classrooms added since the start.

Along with the other schools across the board, they will be hosting an open house on January 30 10 a.m to 6 PM.

Online registration is required.
