Santa is coming early this year!
Merrittville Speedway is inviting kids, age 12 and under, to come down on Saturday, November 20 between 10am and 2pm, to pick up a free Christmas toy.
Says Lorraine Spiece, who owns the Merrittville Speedway together with her husband Don, “We have an eight year old. We want to show her too that it’s not as important to receive as it is to give. We love kids and we love helping out the community.”
There will be free coffee and hot chocolate, a raffle, and Santa is expected to make a little visit as well.
Spiece says toy donations are still accepted up until Friday night, noting, “It has to be wrapped with an age group on it.”
“We’re hoping to get 5000 toys for kids. It’s going really well. We have about 2500, 3000 toys so far.”
Spiece thinks it’s important to give back, especially after the difficulties brought on by the pandemic.
“Because of Covid nobody has been able to go out and do too much this last year and a half. Now that things are opening up more, we’re able to give back and help out as well.”
