This afternoon at 2 p.m, nominations for the upcoming municipal and school board elections officially closed.
19 candidates will be vying for a seat on city council. All current councillors, except for councillor Fred Neale and councillor John Kenny, are seeking re-election.
Mayor Terry Ugulini will be running again. He’ll have competition from newcomer Damon Ford who is looking to shake up the establishment.
Regional councillor Tim Whalen is seeking re-election and will be running against Daryl Wilkinson.
Before the nominations are made official, they will first need to be certified by the Thorold city clerk. That process should be complete by 4 p.m. on Monday afternoon.
Keep an eye on ThoroldToday in the coming weeks as we put a spotlight on all the different candidates.
