Local heroes support Wellspring's Smile Cookie family fundraiser

Fire trucks and baked goods in plentiful supply

From May 1 through May 7, Tim Hortons restaurants across Canada and the United States donated the proceeds from the sales of Smile Cookies to charity.

The North America-wide campaign has raised over $92 million since its inception. Last year, Timmy’s franchises donated a record-breaking $15 million.

The iconic cookies were available at the three Tim Hortons outlets in Fonthill, owned by Bill and Stephanie McWilliams, who last year donated $20,000 to Wellspring Niagara through the cookie campaign. This year’s target was $25,000.

The culmination of the week was Local Hero Smile Day, with Pelham firefighters at Wellspring for a family fun afternoon on Saturday, May 6. Fire trucks were on site, and kids enjoyed decorating their own cookies, colouring, and other treats.
