UPDATED: Ontario's top doc releases advice to safely celebrate Thanksgiving, Halloween

Remember to stay home if you have any symptoms of illness: urged top doc

Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario's chief medical officer of health, released his advice today for safely celebrating Thanksgiving and Halloween.

Here's what he had to say about the two October holidays:

Thanksgiving

  • Stick to gathering limits of 25 indoors and 100 outdoors
  • Don't attend any social gathering, event, or dinner if you are experiencing symptoms of illness, even if they are mild
  • If some or all of the people at the event are not vaccinated, consider keeping your mask on while indoors
  • Wash and/or sanitize your hands often

Halloween

  • Trick-or-treating should be done outdoors
  • Trick-or-treaters should wear masks
  • Take turns and keep interactions brief to avoid crowding doorsteps
  • Parties should follow the same guidelines as Thanksgiving gatherings
