Hospitalizations increase in Niagara – 78 being treated for Covid in area hospitals

Niagara’s public health agency reported 266 new cases of COVID-19 in the region today, but warns that the numbers are unreliable and that the data should be interpreted with caution.

According to the official statistics, Niagara now has 5,587 active cases.

This comes as Niagara Health is caring for 123 patients in area hospitals, with 78 of them being treated primarily for Covid.

The remaining 45 are being treated primarily for other conditions.

20 of the Covid-patients are in the ICU, among them 10 unvaccinated.
