24 patients are being treated primarily for COVID-19 in area hospitals.

On Wednesday, the region saw another 120 cases of COVID-19 in the highest increase in almost a month - at least according to the official numbers, which remain unreliable due to testing constraints.

Out of 24 patients hospitalized with symptoms of COVID-19, 5 are admitted to the ICU, said an update from Niagara Health, which did not say how many are vaccinated or unvaccinated due to the relatively low number of cases.

Two new outbreaks were reported in undisclosed locations. 4 outbreaks in healthcare settings are still active, including at the 4th floor at the Welland Hospital.
