COVID-19: Niagara sees 50 new cases today – 17 in hospital (December 9)

Niagara Region Public Health reported the highest daily case count of new COVID-19 infections since September on Thursday.

50 new infections were confirmed, which was only surpassed by a September 5 increase.

8 cases were listed as resolved, leaving the number of active infections at 326.

The breakdown of active cases per municipality is:

St Catharines - 79

Niagara Falls - 74

Fort Erie - 32

Welland - 30

Thorold - 18

17 patients are hospitalized with the virus according to Niagara Health, with 6 in the ICU.

12 are unvaccinated and 5 fully vaccinated.

The death toll remained unchanged at 441.
