COVID-19: Almost all healthcare outbreaks in Niagara are over

Healthcare establishments in Niagara have been able to rid themselves of outbreaks of COVID-19, the region’s public health agency reported on Monday, as only one outbreak remained active. The K3B unit at the St. Catharines hospital was the only insitution with an active outbreak as of Monday morning.

Niagara’s Public Health agency reported 32 new cases of COVID-19 in the region today.

There are now 1,179 active known cases of the virus in Niagara, according to the numbers which remain unreliable due to testing constraints.

Two deaths were added to the region’s tally, bringing the total death toll to 521.

Before the weekend, 18 patients were being treated for the virus in area hospitals, and 13 others who had tested positive for the virus but were being treated for other conditions.
