COVID-19: 9 cases in Niagara today (August 10)

NRPH confirmed 9 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. It is the second time in less than two weeks that the number hovers close to the double-digit mark, which was more prevalent in early July.

Following 8 recoveries, the number of active cases across Niagara is now at 50.

Area hospitals are still free from Covid-patients, marking closer to a week with no hospital admissions.

Public Health Ontario reported 321 new COVID cases and two deaths in today's update (Aug. 10). 

The report includes 200 new recoveries.

There have been 19 new hospitalizations and four admission to intensive care units since yesterday's report.

The August 10 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 2,494 active, lab-confirmed cases, up from 2,375 yesterday.
  • 100 COVID-positive people are currently hospitalized in Ontario.
  • There are 109 patients in intensive care units with COVID-related illness (of those, 30 no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • 72 people are on ventilators due to COVID-related illness (of those, 19 no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • The province reported 16,479 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.7 per cent positivity rate. 
  • There are 10,066 tests still awaiting processing, and the provincial labs have processed 16.7 million tests to date.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 96 are from Toronto, 31 cases are from Peel, 15 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, nine are from Grey-Bruce, and 30 are from York Region.
  • Today's cases include 90 individuals aged 19 and under, 150 people between 20 and 39 years old, 59 people between 40 and 59 years old, 19 people between 60 and 79 years old, and one person over 79 years old.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 553,125 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 541,222 recoveries and 9,409 deaths.

The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,745.1 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.

Ontario's average weekly incidence rate is 12 cases per 100,000 people, which is up by 31.9 per cent from last week.

There were 48,278 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday.

19,950,437 doses of vaccine have been administered.

In total, 9,381,122 people have been fully vaccinated.
