COVID-19: 34 new cases of the virus in Niagara today (December 8)

NRPH reported 34 new cases of COVID-19 in the region on Wednesday.

Following 12 recoveries, the number of active cases in the region hit 285 on Wednesday.

No new deaths were reported, leaving the regional death toll at 441.

18 active outbreaks are being tracked by Public Health.

Primarily in community settings, one long-term care home is reporting an active outbreak after at least one case was discovered at Shalom Manor in Grimsby.

17 patients are in hospital with the virus, Niagara Health reports.

6 are being cared for in the Intensive Care Unit.

12 are unvaccinated and 5 are fully vaccinated.
