COVID-19: 31 cases reported in Niagara today

Death toll remains stable after weekend according to Public Health

Niagara Region Public Health reported 31 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, which is the lowest official number reported this month. According to official numbers, there are now 1,382 active cases across the region.

There were no new deaths reported on Monday, leaving the death toll at 518, after some increases last week.

There are currently 66 patients hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19, and less than 5 admitted to intensive care or on ventilators.

Just shy of 48 percent of residents have received either a booster- or third dose of the vaccine, with around 80 percent having received one or two.

Six outbreaks in long-term care or hospital settings remain active, with Plymouth Cordage Retirement Community in Welland being the latest institution to report an active outbreak.
