COVID-19: 27 new cases on Monday in Niagara, following weekend with over 60 confirmed infections

NRPH reports 27 cases of COVID-19 on Monday, following a weekend of continued increases in known infection cases.

Saturday saw another 41 cases added to the region's total, and Sunday 26.

There are now 342 known active cases in Niagara, and the death toll has risen to 374.

Thorold has 21 confirmed active cases as of Monday.

There are 201 variant cases confirmed in Niagara, but only six have completed sequencing, showing they belong to the U.K mutation of the COVID-19 virus.

There are 19 active outbreaks in Niagara, but only two in nursing home settings.

Portal Village in Port Colborne and Albright Manor in Lincoln are the only two homes remaining on the region's list of active health care outbreaks.

As of Friday, Niagara Health had administered 34,471 doses, and Public Health had administered over 16,800 doses of the vaccine.

The region's Public Health office will provide an update on the pandemic later today.
