If you are making use of the spring temperatures that recently came to Niagara to clean up the yard or garage, plan your trips to the dump carefully, the region advises.

The region is asking residents to avoid going to the landfill sites during busy hours, usually Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. There tends to be a rush between 10 a.m - 3 p.m, before closing at 4 p.m on Saturdays.

Due to already increased wait times because of COVID-19 restrictions, residents could be turned away if they are in line when the landfill closes for the day, the region warned.

Unneccesary trips to the landfill can be avoided by using curbside collection programs, as well as the Green Bin and yard waste programs.
