NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF THOROLD
****************************
The online voting period for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election in Thorold begins today at 10 a.m.

Thorold is one of many municipalities in Ontario that has made voting easier and more accessible for all residents this election. This year, of the 417 municipal elections taking place, 217 of the municipalities will be using online or phone voting. This is a significant increase of 24 per cent from the 2018 election, where 175 municipalities opted for these additional voting methods.

Eligible voters can securely vote from anywhere and from any device by using their Voter Identification Number and unique pin number (PIN), located in the voter letter they received in the mail. Online votes can be cast here: www.intvoting.com/thorold.

Residents are voting to elect candidates to the positions of Mayor of Thorold, City Councillor, Regional Councillor, District School Board of Niagara Trustee and Niagara Catholic District School Board Trustee. As there are eight City Councillor positions to be filled, voters may vote for up to eight candidates, but do not need to select a total of eight in order to cast their ballot.

Help centres will be available throughout the city for residents’ convenience every day during the online voting period, with the exception of Sundays. Residents are encouraged to visit a help centre if they require assistance with online voting, if they wish to register to vote, or if they have any questions about the process.

Eligible voters have until Oct. 22 at 8:00 p.m. to cast their votes online, before being able to vote in-person on Election Day, Oct. 24, 2022, between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
