Ceremony planned for fallen retired firefighters in Niagara Falls

The Niagara Falls Fire Department (NFFD) will hold a Line of Duty Death Ceremony to remember and pay respect to their fallen firefighters on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. at Fire Station 1, at 5815 Morrison Street. 

The names of retired Platoon Chiefs Harry Boutilier and Bruce Johnson, who passed from work-related illness in 2022, will be added to the Line of Duty Death Memorial, which was built to provide a permanent place to honour and remember firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty, or from work-related illness.

What: Line of Duty Death Memorial Ceremony. Family members of Platoon Chiefs Boutilier and Johnson will be in attendance and will lay a rose at the memorial to honour their loved one.
When: Sunday, September 24, 2023, 10 a.m.
Where: Fire Station 1, 5815 Morrison Street
Who: Family members of those firefighters listed on the Line of Duty Death Memorial have been invited to attend, as well as NFFD personnel, retirees, senior staff, and dignitaries. 

Media representatives, as well as the public, are invited to attend.
