At Wednesday's meeting of the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee, Curtis Dray, manager of community services for the City of Thorold, gave a short update on the works taking place at the Battle of Beaverdams Park.
Construction on the park, which began on June 14th 2021, had been halted for a little while in the last few weeks but Dray assured the committee that construction is well underway again and the park is still on track to be completed by the end of the fall.
Dray said the delays were caused by some construction crew members that had been in close contact with diagnosed cases of Covid-19. He also explained that because of a change in orders they had to wait for new pricing and approvals before construction could resume again.
Despite all these hiccups, Dray said he is confident construction will make up for the lost days and the park will be completed in a few months. The city hopes to have a ribbon cutting ceremony once construction is complete but no date has been set yet.
