Calling all pet lovers: Canada’s leading raw pet food brand is throwing a 10th anniversary party, and everyone and their dog is invited.

Big Country Raw (BCR), based in Smithville, is throwing a 10-year bash on July 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring food (for humans) and activities.

“Our 10th anniversary fair is a thank you to the BCR community — near and far — who have supported the brand along the way,” said Robert and Geraldine Brouwer, owners of BCR.

There will be a special appearance from Rodney Habib, co-author of New York Times bestselling “The Forever Dog,” who will be signing books.

Dog owners are encouraged to bring their prize pooches and have them take a turn on the lure course.

There will also be face painting, vendors, bouncy castles, food trucks, and a discount on BCR and partner brands.

The Brouwers started the business after making the switch to raw dog food at their dog breeding business. Once they made the change, they noticed their dogs had more energy, shinier coats, much less poop, and didn’t have the traditional dog smell anymore.

The family was convinced, and over the years, moved from a small, garage-based operation to opening a 28,000-square-foot building in 2019.

Then, with increased demand because of more people adopting dogs during the pandemic, they added a 10,000-square-foot addition to the building.

Today, BCR is Canada’s leading raw pet food brand by sales, and it ships to more than 1,400 retailers across Canada.
