The annual Thorold Fertilizer Sale will continue to grow with a transition in 2021 by involving a new host and different location for the community event. Organized in past years by John and Teresa Tepylo at the Pine Plaza in Thorold, the annual fundraising event in 2021 will be hosted by the Knights of Columbus 2319. The 3-day event in April will be held in the rear parking lot at Holy Rosary Hall, 35 Queen St. S., Thorold.

“Teresa and I will be passing on the Thorold Fertilizer Sale to the Knights of Columbus for the 2021 year and beyond.  We will assist them in the first year with ordering and logistics. The Knights are eager and excited to continue this venture that Teresa and I successfully started in Thorold eleven years ago,” stated TFS co-founder John Tepylo,

In support of local charities, the sale will be open to the public on Friday, April 9, 4 p.m. – 9 p.m., and run Saturday, April 10, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m., and wrap up on Sunday, April 11, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Because there was no sale in 2020 as a result of COVID, we feel that the sales for 2021 will be greater than in any previous year, and project that about 14 skids of fertilizer can be sold by the Knights,” added TFS co-founder. Teresa Tepylo.

New Location and New Items for Sale

In addition to a selection of good quality lawn and garden fertilizers typically featured at the annual sale, new product ideas under consideration by the Knights of Columbus event committee include mulch, grass seed, and other options.  Tickets for a 50/50 draw will start in January and be available for buyers at the event. Ideas to grow the fundraising event include a bottle drive, as well as the sale of take-out foods.

“The central location opens up possibilities for the sale in a spacious area with safe, easy curbside pick-up in proximity to our council’s building in Holy Rosary Hall,” stated Tony Scalzi, Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus 2319.

As a group of Catholic men, the Knights volunteer to get things done in their community.  In doing so, the Knights are guided by the principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.
