Niagara Public Health reports 7 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday in another low single-digit increase that has been showing up in the daily updates in recent weeks. The number of active cases is now 215, following 30 recoveries.

While the number of confirmed cases continues to drop, NRPH has confirmed several cases of the variants of concern. Five cases of the B.1.617- or Delta-variant and 11 cases of the so-called P.1- or Brazilian-variant have been confirmed, although around 1,000 cases are still pending confirmation.

There are 9 active outbreaks, with the latest one confirmed today. No new outbreaks were reported in health-care facilites.

Niagara Health is currently caring for 24 patients with COVID-19. Of them, five are being cared for in the ICU.

Across the province, Ontario confirmed 296 new infections today, a slight increase from yesterday’s 270. However, health officials cautioned on Tuesday that around 80 of Tuesday’s cases were included after falling out following a data lag.
