50 cases of COVID-19 in Niagara on Friday

Niagara Public Health reported 50 cases of COVID-19 and one new death on Friday in the region. Following 122 cases being labeled as resolved, there are currently 1,454 known active cases, found primarily in St Catharines (515), Niagara Falls (25) and Welland (194). Thorold has 90 confirmed active cases.

One outbreak closed on Friday, bringing the active outbreak count to 32.

Niagara Health is currently caring for 56 COVID-19 patients.

Vaccinations continue to be rolled out across the region with over 42 percent of residents having received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Across the province, 2,362 cases were confirmed on Friday.
