Woman charged with careless driving in death of cyclist

One cyclist was killed and two others injured in June collision; driver faces multiple charges

A 51-year-old St. Catharines woman has been charged with careless driving causing death in connection with a tragic collision that killed a cyclist and injured two others on June 13.

Niagara Regional Police announced the charges Wednesday.

Continued investigation by Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit has resulted in the identification of a suspect.

On Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, a female driver was charged in connection with this incident.

A 51-year-old St. Catharines female is facing the following charges:

  1. Careless driving – Section 130(1) – HTA
  2. Careless driving causing bodily harm – Section 130(3) – HTA
  3. Careless driving causing death – Section 130(3) – HTA

The female has been released on a Summons with a future court date of Sept. 13, 2022, to deal with the charges.
