Welland man facing drug charges

Beginning in September of 2019, members of the 3 District Street Crime Unit and 3 District Criminal Investigations Branch began an investigation into the alleged sale of fentanyl from a Welland resident. On Oct. 3, 2019, the investigation concluded with an arrest and the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant. 24-year-old Chad Guthro of Welland, Ont. was arrested for various drug trafficking related offences.

At the time of his arrest, Guthro was found to be in possession of a quantity of fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, hydromorphone, and a quantity of currency.

A search of Guthro's residence yielded the seizure of digital scales, packaging and other paraphernalia indicative of drug trafficking. A prohibited weapon was seized, along with stolen tools from a recent commercial break and enter that occurred in September at Habitat for Humanity in Thorold.

Accused Chad Guthro will appear in court on Oct. 4, 2019 and is facing charges of;

  1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl
  2. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine
  3. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
  4. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Hydromorphone
  5. Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  6. Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.
  7. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (brass knuckles)

The seized drugs has a street value exceeding $23,000.
