Two children seriously injured in Wainfleet ATV collision

On Sept. 24, 2019 at approximately 6:18 p.m., uniform officers from the 6 District (Port Colborne) office of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a residence in the area of Wellandport Road and Regional Road 27 in Wainfleet. Officers attended for a report of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) collision.

The investigation has revealed that a three-year-old and a four-year-old were riding an ATV with a 30-year-old male. While doing so the ATV lost control.

Both children were injured from the collision. The adult male was not. The children were both transported to area hospitals and subsequently by Ornge helicopter to an out of region trauma centre.

The children remain in hospital. The three-year-old is now in serious but stable condition. The four-year-old is in critical but stable condition.

The incident is under investigation by detectives from the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed this collision are asked to contact 905-688-4111 ext. 9928.
