Two charged in connection to theft at Niagara Falls LCBO

On Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021 at approximately 5:43pm, 2 District (Niagara Falls) uniform officers attended the LCBO located at 5389 Ferry Street, in the City of Niagara Falls for a disturbance call. 

Investigation revealed that two males had stolen items from the store prior to being approached by a security guard.  A male in his 40's returned various merchandise and proceeded to go outside however a male in his 20's still had items concealed in which security requested for all the items to be returned. The male refused and causing both parties to have a brief physical altercation. As result the suspect brandished a knife. The physical altercation continued before the security guard was able to disengage and retrieve all stolen items.

Officers arrived on scene however the male had fled prior to police arrival;  the security personnel did not sustain any physical injuries as a result of the altercation.

Detectives with 2 District (Niagara Falls) took carriage of the investigation. 

On Dec. 15, 2021, detectives were able to identify and arrest both suspects. During the arrest the 21 year old male suspect made an attempt to pick up a knife before being placed in handcuffs. No officers sustained physical injuries as a result of the incident. 

Anthony Pembleton (21 years old) of Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with the following offences of:

  • Robbery
  • Resist arrest
  • Fail to comply with probation

Pembleton was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on Dec. 15, 2021.

James Headworth (42 years old) of Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with the following offences of:

  • Theft under $5,000

Headworth was released on a Form 10 – Undertaking with a future court date.
