Two charged after handgun pointed at victim in Lincoln: Police

Police say the accused were trying to steal scrap metal when they got into an argument with the owner

On Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, 8 District (Grimsby) uniform officers attended the area of King Street and Durham Road, in the town of Lincoln for a report of an armed person.

Investigation revealed that two males had attended a residence in the area of King Street and Durham Road, in the town of Lincoln in attempts to steal scrap metal. At this time, the owner of the scrap metal attended the area and advised the suspects the metal belonged to him. As a result, all three parties got into a verbal argument which escalated to one of the suspects pointing a silver revolver style handgun at the victim.

Both suspects fled the area prior to police arrival.

The victim did not sustain any physical injuries, as a result of the incident.

Matthew Mendolia (31 years old) of Port Dover, was arrested and charged with the following offences of:

  • robbery with a firearm
  • pointing a firearm

Mendolia was held in custody pending a bail hearing that was expected to take place on Dec. 15, 2021.

Tony Mendolia (27 years old) of Hamilton, was arrested and charged with the following offences of:

  • robbery with a firearm
  • pointing a firearm

Mendolia was held in custody pending a bail hearing that was expected to take place on Dec. 14, 2021.
