Toronto man accused of committing indecent act in St. Catharines

Police say the 81-year-old accused was touching and exposing himself while walking behind an adult female

On Friday, Nov. 10, 2023 at approximately 4:25 p.m., 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of Glendale Avenue and Old Glendale Road, in the City of St. Catharines in regards to an indecent act call.

Investigation revealed that an elderly male was touching and exposing himself in the parking lot of 12 Mile Creek while walking behind an adult female.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with witnesses who indicated the actions of the male suspect were visible to those walking in the area. With the assistance of witnesses, officers located the male suspect and subsequently placed him under arrest.

Clement Gonsalves (81 years old) of Toronto, Ont. was arrested and charged with the following offence of:
    •    Commit an indecent act in a public place

Gonsalves was released on a Form 10 – Undertaking and is expected to appear in court on Dec. 22, 2023.

Detectives have reason to believe there may be more victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact the lead investigator at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009837.
