Three charged after major drug bust in Thorold

Search warrant executed at a home on Nov. 7 resulted in seizure of $121K worth of suspected fentanyl and opioid pills believed to be hydromorphone, dilaudid, and oxycodone

In October 2022, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) detectives assigned to the Major Drugs and Gang’s division of the Special Investigative Services commenced an investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs throughout the City of Thorold.

On Nov. 7, 2022, detectives received judicial authorization to execute a search warrant at a residential address near the intersection of Ormond Street and Townline Road East in the City of Thorold. As a result of the investigation, three individuals have been arrested. In total, detectives recovered 478.4 grams of suspected fentanyl and 285 opioid pills suspected to be hydromorphone, dilaudid, and oxycodone. The combined estimated value of all drugs seized is $121,025.00

David McComb (29 years) of St. Catharines has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
    •    Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
    •    Possession of oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking
    •    Fail to comply with release order

Raymond Joyce (33 years) of Thorold has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
    •    Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
    •    Possession of oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking

Rena Strickland (38 years) of Thorold has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
    •    Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
    •    Possession of oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking

McComb was held for a bail hearing that took place on Nov. 8, 2022 via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church St. in the City of St. Catharines. He was remanded into the custody of Ontario Correctional Services.

Both Joyce and Strickland were released on Form 10 Undertakings and are scheduled to attend the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse on Jan. 12, 2023 at 59 Church St. in the City of St. Catharines.
