Since January 2019 members of the Morality Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service have been investigating the sales of heroin/fentanyl from a Mellanby Ave. address in the City of Port Colborne. During the investigation, Police identified a male responsible for the sale of drugs from this residence and observed him making suspect drug deals while mobile in a vehicle.

On Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019 at approximately 2:10 p.m., the target of the investigation left his residence on Mellanby and attended an address in Port Colborne and picked up two other people. After leaving that residence, uniform officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the three individuals who were in the vehicle. At approximately 2:30 p.m. a search warrant was executed by members of the Morality unit, Guns Gangs and Grows Unit, and the Opioid Unit at the Mellanby Ave. residence. Police searched both the residence and the vehicle which resulted in the seizure of purple-tinted fentanyl and heroin, oxycodone and currency believed to be the proceeds of the drug sales.

Arrested and charged is 33-year-old Port Colborne resident Trevor Eden. Eden is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Schedule I Substance (x4), and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime. Arrested with Eden were 51-year-old James McCoy and  34-year-old Kasandra Roesch both of Port Colborne. McCoy and Roesch were charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (x4).

In total Police seized over $6,000 in fentanyl/heroin and oxycodone and $900 in currency believed to be proceeds of drug sales. The fentanyl was found to be tinted purple similar to other recent seizures of this drug locally.

All three arrested persons were held for bail hearings set for Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019.
