An arrest was made by Niagara Regional Police after they had blocked Cleveland Street between Lynden and Richmond Streets and camped outside 44 Cleveland Street with an assault vehicle and S.W.A.T. team. On Richmond Street, what appeared to be a bomb-removal robot stood by.
The standoff lasted about two hours before a lone male finally surrendered to police without incident.
