Suspect arrested for gas station armed robbery

The 40-year-old from St. Catharines is charged with robbery with a firearm and disguise with intent; bail hearing scheduled for today

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery eariler this month at an Esso gas station in St. Catharines.

Nicholas R. Selvig, 40, was apprehended yesterday and charged with robbery with a firearm and disguise with intent.

A bail hearing is scheduled for today.

1 District detectives have been investigating this incident since it occurred on Sept. 12, 2022.  As a result of that investigation a suspect was identified.

On Sept. 21, 2022, Nicholas R. Selvig (40 years old) of St. Catharines was arrested in relation to this incident.  Selvig has been charged with the criminal offences of:

  • Disguise with intent, S. 351(2) CC
  • Robbery with a firearm, S. 344(1)(a) CC

Selvig was held in custody for a video bail hearing to be held at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on Sept. 22, 2022.
