The sudden death investigation of a five-month-old boy from Welland remains ongoing by detectives from the Niagara Regional Police.

The residence of the deceased in the area of King Street and Albert Street in Welland has been released.

Detectives will continue to work with the office of the Coroner as they await all the results and information from the post mortem.

Original release

On March 31, 2019 at 6:45 p.m., uniform officers responded to a residential address in the area of King Street and Albert Street in Welland. Officers responded to assist Niagara Emergency Medical Services Paramedics and members of the Welland Fire and Emergency Services regarding a five-month-old boy in medical distress. 
 
Officers attended, and on arrival of paramedics, assisted with resuscitative efforts. Tragically, the child was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officers from the Niagara Regional Police are presently conducting a sudden death investigation in conjunction with the office of the Coroner. 

Officers remain at the scene pending the outcome of the investigation and a post mortem that will be conducted later today.
