St. Catharines man charged with multiple break-and-enters

Police say 31-year-old suspect broke into a gas station kiosk, and that further investigation linked him to two more break-and-enters and one theft

On Sept. 19, 2022, at 6:39 a.m., Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) responded to a gas station kiosk in the area of Ontario Street and Pleasant Avenue in the City of St. Catharines regarding a break and enter.

Upon arrival, officers reviewed the closed-circuit television (CCTV) and identified the suspect. As officers proceeded to the last known residence of the suspect, he was located and arrested at 7 a.m., approximately one km from the break and enter.

Detectives assigned to the 1 District Street Crime Unit continued the investigation and linked the suspect to two additional break and enters and one theft investigation. After receiving judicial authorization, detectives executed a search warrant at the suspects residence and recovered stolen items.

Raven Tempest, 31, of St. Catharines has been charged with:

• Break and enter into a non-dwelling (three counts)

• Theft under $5000

• Fail to comply with probation order

Tempest is being held for a bail hearing scheduled to take place on Sept. 20, 2022, via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church St. in the City of St. Catharines.
