St. Catharines man charged with attempted murder

Update:
Detectives from the 1 District – St. Catharines office of the Niagara Regional Police Service have continued to investigate this matter. As a result of that investigation on Jan. 24, 2020, an arrest was made.

Michael A. Pula (55 years old) of St. Catharines has been arrested and charged with the alleged Criminal Code of Canada offence of:

  • Attempted murder

Pula attended a bail hearing on Jan. 24, 2020, and was remanded into custody.

Original Jan. 22 release:
At approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020, 1 District (St. Catharines) uniform officers were called to an apartment building in the area of Queenston Street and Riordon Street in the City of St. Catharines following the report of a disturbance.

When officers arrived they located two adult males, aged 56 and 58, with injuries. The males were transported to a local hospital for assessment before both being airlifted to an out-of-town hospital with life-threatening injuries.

At this time the investigation remains ongoing by officers with the 1 District (St. Catharines) detective office. The two males are believed to have been known to each other.

At this time, detectives are not looking for further suspects in this incident.
