Nestor Chemerika, the 84-year-old victim from Niagara-on-the-Lake in the July 13 hit-and-run, died in hospital from the injuries sustained from being struck while cycling, according to a news release.
Chemerika's identity is being released with permission of the family, Niagara police said in the release. He died July 25. The family is requesting privacy.
The 1999 pewter metallic GMC Sierra pickup truck continues to undergo examination by detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit. The driver has not been identified.
