Second suspect sought in August property crimes investigation (4 photos)

Investigation into a number of property crimes involving a stolen pickup truck began on August 31

Sept. 20 update:
On Aug. 31, 2021, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service from 8 District (Grimsby) commenced an investigation into a number of property crimes involving a stolen white Ford F150 pickup truck.

As a result of the investigation, detectives have determined there is a second suspect.

The Niagara Regional Police Service are seeking the public’s help in identifying the second suspect.

Description:
    •    Male
    •    White
    •    Approximately 50 years of age
    •    6 foot tall
    •    Muscular build
    •    Mainly bald
    •    Dark beard

Police have already issued an arrest warrant for Doug Funke in relation to those offences.

On Aug. 31, 2021, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service from 8 District (Grimsby) commenced an investigation into a number of property crimes involving a stolen white Ford F150 pickup truck.

During one of the incidents, the suspect drove dangerously and failed to stop at the scene of a collision with a member of the public. The victim sustained minor injuries.

On Sept. 2, 2021, with the assistance from the public and the Hamilton Police Service, the stolen pickup was located and some of the property stolen had been recovered including property stolen from other jurisdictions.

Investigation has identified that one of the suspects involved is Hamilton resident, 30-year-old Douglas Funke.

Funke’s whereabouts are currently unknown and an arrest warrant has been requested for the following offences:

  • Dangerous operation of a conveyance
  • Fail to remain at the scene of an accident
  • Operate a conveyance while disqualified
  • Break enter commit theft
  • Theft under $5,000 x3
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Fail to comply with probation x4
